Item description

PURE COPPER MESH - KNITTED FLAT FILAMENT APPROXIMATELY 0.05 MM X 0.6 MM (PACKING MESH FOR COLUMN STILLS AND COOLING CONDENSERS)

Copper packing (flat) mesh for reflux column stills

Copper packing mesh naturally increases the final proof of spirits while improving the taste by causing a slight natural reflux action in the column and simultaneously removes sulphur compounds from the column product vapour.

Copper mesh will remove the sulphides by catalytic action. These sulphides are a natural by-product of the fermentation process that tends to get concentrated when products are distilled.
These un-wanted sulphides will show up as off flavour’s and smells in the final product and the best way to get rid of them is to add as much pure copper packing mesh to pack the reflux still column as possible, i.e. longer reflux columns of one meter or more.

Copper mesh packing has a very high surface area more than any other traditional still packing materials for the distillate to condense on and causes high turbulence in the reflux column.

Copper packing mesh can be used over and over again for many years and only require occasional cleaning once they turn black from the depositing sulphides via its superior catalytic action.

Copper has antimicrobial properties which have been known for thousands of years. The copper Development Association (CDA) proved that surfaces made from antimicrobial copper alloys like brass and bronze had 83 percent fewer bacteria on average compared to surfaces made from traditional materials.

Copper can kill up to 99.9% of bacteria within two hours and is the still the best way to store drinking water.

The oldest recorded medical use of copper is mentioned in the Smith Papyrus, one of the oldest books known. This Egyptian medical text, written between 2600 and 2200 B.C., describes the application of copper to sterilize chest wounds and drinking water. Greeks, Romans, Aztecs, and others also used copper or copper compounds for the treatment of such ailments as headaches, burns, intestinal worms, and ear infections and for hygiene in general.

Studies have shown that copper surfaces completely kill bacteria. E. coli inoculated on to copper coupons were completely killed. The studies concluded that the copper ions brought about complete killing of bacteria by membrane damage However; the mechanism of action of copper on bacteria is not completely understood yet.

DISTILLING DOES NOT PRODUCE A DROP OF ALCOHOL, NOT ONE DROP, IT NEVER HAS AND IT NEVER WILL!

ALL IT DOES IS REMOVE THE POISONS FROM THE BREW.
