purpose of the position
The Welder / Boilermaker uses hand-welding equipmen
t and/or semi-automated equipment to
weld or join metal construction and fabrication com
ponents.
Key Accountabilities
•
Read drawings, work orders and production schedule
s to determine product or job
instructions and specifications.
•
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
to fuse metal using gas shielded
metal arc.
•
Examine work for defects, and measure with straigh
tedges or templates to ensure
conformance with specifications.
•
Set up and operate hand and power tools common to
the welding trade such as shielded
metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grin
ders and carbon rod gauging.
•
Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defect
ive materials or products and notify
supervisors.
