Item description

SA Steelworks a Division of the SA Metal Group has a position for a Supervisor in the Fitters department; the position requires an experienced, committed and hardworking individual. The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision of staff and the management of daily work tasks.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

Millwright, or equivalent qualification
People management experience – must have an assertive personality.
Proven Leadership ability – must be able to lead by example.
Practical maintenance experience in an operational production facility.
Practical post – qualification experience of at least 10 (ten) years preferred.
Specific knowledge and experience in the repair/replacement of the following;
i)Ball and Roller bearings
ii)Industrial geared motor units
iii)Belt conveyor systems
iv)Water pumps and related valves and fittings
v)Mechanical drives – alignment techniques
Basic Mechanical and Electrical knowledge of industrial equipment/components.


RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

Manage and be accountable for the Fitters department team work output and allocation
Manage and maintain an acceptable quality of work performed
Provide “on the job” training and guidance when necessary to subordinates
Use a common sense approach, when no written or formal instruction/ methodology exist
Liaise with the Fitter Team Leaders on job progress and work requirements when necessary
Issue direct and clear instructions to Team Leaders and Fitter teams
Manage Fitter team discipline, time keeping and attendance
Liaise with Human Resources department in respect of any staff related issues that do arise
Liaise with Engineering Team and Production Divisions, regarding job priorities and breakdowns
Practise and apply practical Health and Safety practices
Preventative Maintenance Practice – maintain systems – based (C- Works) program
Planning of routine jobs, unscheduled breakdowns, staff utilisation

SALARY IS NEGOTIABLE R45000-54000 DEPENDING ON THE EXPERIENCE
