Position Title: Stakeholder Liaison Officer
Location: Johannesburg
Employment Type: Full Time
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Overview
The Stakeholder Liaison Officer will serve as a permanent link between the
organisation, communities, local government institutions, civil society organisations,
traditional leaders, business and other key stakeholders. The incumbent will
facilitate dialogue and coordinate stakeholder engagement. This includes
supporting advocacy initiatives and ensure effective communication around service
delivery and development issues.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop and lead positive relationships with municipal officials and various
government departments.
● Drive engagements and coordinate activities with civil society organisations
and other stakeholders.
● Facilitate engagement between communities and government institutions
on service delivery on governance matters.
● Identify and map key stakeholders relevant to organisational programmes
and advocacy priorities.
● Support communities in identifying and communicating local development
and service delivery challenges.
● Educate communities on municipal governance structures and public
participation processes.
● Monitor local government policies and legislation affecting communities.
● Prepare stakeholder briefs and discussion papers.
● Participate in policy discussions and engagements with relevant
government institutions.
● Document stakeholder engagements and maintain accurate stakeholder
databases.
● Prepare regular reports on community issues as well as stakeholder
feedback and engagement outcomes.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Political Science, or equivalent
qualification
● Minimum of 2 years in stakeholder relations, community engagement, local
government, advocacy and community development.
● Experience working with municipalities, government departments, NGOs or
civil society organisations.
● Proven experience facilitating stakeholder engagement and community
consultation.
● Proven ability to deal with complex issues and develop effective strategies
and solutions for managing them.

● Good understanding of the local political, social, and cultural complexity and
diversity .
● A mature and motivated professional with a high EQ and ‘sense making’
capability, together with strong decision-making and influencing skills
● A high level of presence and personal credibility, with the authority to build
respect and trust at all levels of a company
● Confident and collaborative. Comfortable “rolling up the sleeves” with a “can
do” approach
● Resilient and resourceful, able to think creatively in order to achieve
objectives
