As a driver, my responsibilities included the following:
a) Deliver goods, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states & cross-border
b) Load and unload cargo.
c) Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
d) Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
e) Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
f) Inspect the trailer before and after the trip, and record any defects they find.
g) Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
h) Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
i) Keep the truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order.
j) Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking.
k) Manage vehicle in safe operating condition..
l) Load and unload vehicles or building loads and secure for safe transportation.
m) Check vehicles and troubleshoot and maintain vehicles.
n) Run ratchet straps and chains and binders to secure load to trailer.
