Shift Supervisor - Food (Confectionery) Manufacturing (Johannesburg, Gauteng)

Job description: A distinguished food manufacturing company based in Johannesburg is seeking the expertise of a skilled and experienced Shift Supervisor to join their team. The primary objective for the role of Shift Supervisor is to lead and manage activities of manufacturing confectionery (sweets) products that comply with customer requirements on shifts. Shift Supervisor will report directly to Production Manager.

The Successful Incumbent Should Meet the Following Responsibilities and Skills

●Proven experience as Shift Supervisor.
●Supervise activities of a confectionery (sweets) manufacturing line and team in a large factory.
●People management skills and performance management.
●Responsible for the planning, scheduling, organizing, leading, controlling and coordination of production processes.
●Teach and guide the shift personnel about work rules and requirements.
●Ensure proper communication within team and with other departments.
●Execute the production plan.
●Good planning skills with an ability to oversee multiple activities simultaneously according to standard operating procedures and discipline.
●Strong working knowledge of machinery, equipment, and processes to ensure proper operation and availability.
●Work with support teams to resolve production issues related to food safety, product quality and health and safety.
●Support product research and development activities.
●Punctual, honest, reliable, of sober habits with ability to work under pressure.
●Meet production targets for the day, anticipate raw materials, product and packaging shortage issues and work with warehouse and/or runners to deliver more product to the floor to prevent a production halt.
●Oversee product delivery labels are sorted, properly stored and used.

The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications and requirements:

●Diploma in Production/Operations Management/ Engineering or Equivalent.
●Qualified Artisan (Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Tool and Die Making (Electrician).
●N3/Matric.
●Experience in confectionery (sweets) manufacturing will be an added advantage.
●4 Years post: Apprenticeship/In-service training experience in manufacturing.
●Be systematic in solving people/ process/ technical problems and have sound leadership capabilities and analytical skills.
●Be computer literate.
●Required to work shifts.
